A notorious separatist leader said to have had hands in the October 24 2020 massacre of innocent school kids in Kumba and his foot soldiers have been neutralised by elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, in Kumba.
According to a release issued 9 February 2020 by the Head of the Communication Division, Navy Captain Atonfack Guemo Cyrille Serge, the self-styled ‘General Above the Law’ was neutralised on the night of Sunday 7 breaking Monday 8 February 2021.
“It is worth underscoring that “Above The Law” (sometimes also called Mirror) is the leader of the barbaric horde that perpetrated on 24 October 2020 in the Fiango quarter, in Kumba II, the attack on the private school complex “Mother Francisca International Bilingual Academy, and coldly opened fire on students in classrooms, causing seven deaths and about fifteen seriously wounded,” partly read the release.
He revealed that the operation had as objective to “thwart armed separatists who had gathered to plan attacks” in Kumba and surrounding localities following information given to the security by the population.
He said five “terrorists” were neutralised and others wounded who escaped following clashes with soldiers prominent among them so-called Wanshe Celestin alias “T-Boy” and pseudo General “Above The Law”.
Speaking atb the BIR camp in Kumba Monday, the Third Assistant SDO for Meme, Kaffe Rouka Sampson, appreciate soldiers for the “marvellous job” adding that it is an indication the military are not sleeping.
While urging those still in the bushes to drop their arms and join DDR centres, the administrator called on locals to ensure perfect collaboration with soldiers for return to peace.
“This one now shows that in collaboration with the population and the forces of law and order, we are able now to apprehend them. We are sending this as a warning to the population and to everybody that you must collaborate with the military so that we end this,” he added.
The operation was led by the Commander of the 6th BIR unit, Colonel Maidoang Desire who said the raid was launch following an attack from the neutralise separatist gang leader along the Kumba-Buea Highway. the attck is said to have left at least two soldiers wounded.
