-Awards Special Fako Prize to best male, female athletes
CAMTEL at the heart of the just ended mountain race in Buea as main sponsor
Cameroon’s incumbent telecoms operator, Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, has contributed a great deal to the success of the just ended 26th edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.
CAMTEL did not just play an impeccable role as official sponsor but the corporation under the able leadership of Judith Yay Sunday Epse Achidi marked her presence in all fronts from Douala to Tiko, the gateway to the South West region to Mutengene, Buea the host city, Limbe, and of course Yaounde as the towns were clad in the corporation’s colours.
As official Sponsor, CAMTEL did not just provide resources for the event's organization but went an extra mile to provide logistics and gadgets including the decoration of the beautiful hostesses in CAMTEL fabric, provision of banners, effigies, fliers, flags, giant umbrellas.

As a supporter of athletes and youth striving to standout in all fields, the General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Espe Achidi, made available a special prize dubbed the Special FAKO PRIZE for the first male and female athletes to have reached the summit and back. The winners each bagged a whopping FCFA 500000 from the telecom provider.
The high point of the race was when the beautiful hostesses clad in CAMTEL’s blue fabric grace emerging Cameroonian Artist, Witty Minstrel as he thrilled the Molyko Omnisport Stadium with his popular hit, “Be Proud of Who We Are”.

Assistance to Buea DDR centre
On the sidelines of the jubilation and celebration that marked the Race, Madam the General Manager of CAMTEL chose to equally put smile of the faces of ex-separatist fighters at the South West Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Centre.

Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi in her motherly style through her representative, Benedict Ndinwa, Corporate Communication and Public Relations Officer, lauded the ex-fighters for heeding to President Paul Biya’s appeal for them to leave the bushes, join the state for peace and participate in the reconstruction of the country and the region they so cherish.

"CAMTEL is committed to supporting efforts that can help restore sustainable peace in our beloved fatherland and help reignite the spirit of oneness, integration and national unity," Ndinwa disclosed on behalf of the GM, while assuring them of the GM’s unflinching resolve to support them in their social reinsertion drive.
The donation comprising mattresses, bags of rice, laundry soap, vegetable oil, toiletries and more were an extension of the company's corporate social responsibility to the ex-combatants. This comes after similar gesture was made to ex-combatants of the North West region in December 2020.

Marvelled by the support, the beneficiaries said they lacked words to express their joy. They prayed God to continue blessing the company and its General Manager to continue impacting the lives of the needy.

They pledged to join President Biya’s vision for a one and indivisible Cameroon and to be ambassadors of peace. They also promised to do all they can to lure their friends still in the bushes to drop their arms and join in the peace process.
