Member of the committee charged with prepartions for the 2022 Afrca Cup of Nations, have been urged to ensure ongoing works in different stadia in the country are accelerated.
The instruction was given by the Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute. The Head of Government was speaking after chairing the 28th session of the committee in Yaounde Tuesday 2 March 2021. They were also charged to ensure improvement in communication, marketing and ticketing.
The session evaluated the just ended African Nations Championship, CHAN. Sports and Pgysical Education Minister Narcisse Mouele Kombi hailed the organization of the completion as a total success.
It also focused on the state of sport and lodging infrastructure as well as funding to complete the Olembe Sports complex and the East entrance to the economic capital, Douala.
“The PM asked us to implement a number of measures in order to organize in best condition CAN in ten months,” said Minister Mouelle Kombi, adding that the committee will draw from the lapses of the CHAN to perfect their preparation for the AFCON.
It was recommended that there should be an improvement in the sale of tickets with introduction of online sales, acquisition of a software to manage parking lots and modifications as far as protocol, marketing, medical coverage and communication are concern.
Issues related to the hitches of lighting and electricity in stadiums witnessed during the CHAN were raised with instructions for all to be put in place to ensure all is well.
