Cameroon: Population Refute Allegations Of Massive Killings

The population of Foe Bakundu, a village in Mbonge, Meme Division have debunked the allegations of massacre said to have been carried out in the locality by the military as reported all-over the social media. The made the clarifications Sunday 28 March 2021 to Meme SDO, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong. It was during an investigative mission the administrated led to the village in the company of Mbonge DO, Otto Williams II.
According to the spokesman of the village who refused to be named for security reasons, no family has made a complain attesting to the dead of their love one in the hands of soldiers but for the killing of separatist self-styled commander, ‘General Spirito’ alongside five of his elements. This was during a military operation last 18 March 2021.

The population appealed for the creation of the BIR unit in the village to permit their kids resume classes. They said for four years now that the crisis started before it morphed into an armed conflict, their kids have never seen classrooms because of the separatist attacks.

"The amba boys don't want our children to go to school, even the population continue to suffer in their hands as they keep kidnapping people and asking for ransom. The amba fighters have levied each house depending on their financial strength to pay to them, FCFA 50.000, 100. 000, 200.000 monthly,” they revealed, adding that they know of nothing else in the village but harassment in the hands of the gunmen.

Meme SDO promised the people to ensure that schools resume in the village in order to guarantee the future of their kids. He used his outing in the village to appeal to gunmen in the bushes to surrender to face the wrath of the military.

Ntou’ou appealed for peace and calm in the village and to collaborate with security forces in fighting the separatist fighters.
