Last respect: Late Hon. Monjowa Lifaka Described As Example Of Female Leadership

The late Member of Parliament for Fako West Constituency in the South West region has been described by her peers as an astute politician and an example of female leadership. The observation was made by the Senior Deputy Speaker, Honourable Hilarion Etong. 
Etong was speaking as representative of the Speaker of the National during a special ceremony organized by Parliament at the Yaounde Conference Centre to pay last respect to the Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka. 

He told mourners that the late Vice President of the Assembly was the second woman to hold the position and the first to occupy it for more than fifteen years as well as become the first-ever African woman elected as chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, CPA. 

“She was much more an example of female leadership. She was much more a committed MP, fiercely patriotic with a deep sense of national interest which to her was nonnegotiable…,” revealed Etong.
Her colleagues, representatives of CPA appreciated her levelheadedness and contribution to the democratic process in the country and internationally. Many hailed her qualities. 

Born 11 April 1959 in Bojongo, Lifaka, a dedicated militant of the ruling CPDM party became an MP in 2002. She was elected substantive member of the CPDM central committee in 2011. She had a shining an enviable international career that spanned over 15 years holding several positions within the CPA.
