Outstanding services to nation: Biya Honours Bilingualism Commission SG, Dr. Chi Asafor, Two Others With Medals

The outstanding services of the Secretary General of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) in nation building has been rewarded by the Head of State, Paul Biya. 
The commission scribe, Dr. Chi Asafor Cornelius and the Chief Protocol were honoured with a medal of Commanders of the National Order of Valour while one of the Commissioners, Prof. Efoua Mbozo’o Samuel was raised to the rank of Officer of the National Order of Valour.

The three officials were decorated Friday 7 May 2020 on behalf of President Biya by the Commission Chairman, Peter Mafany Musonge. The medals were attributed to them on the occasion of the National Day celebration 20 May 2020 but could only be handed them over the weekend due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  
Musonge congratulated the recipients and urged them to continue working hard for the country and for the achievement of the goals of the commission in ensuring togetherness, promoting use of both official languages and peaceful coexistence. 

Talking to reporters after receiving the medal, Dr. Chi Asafor thanked the Head of State for honouring him with the distinction and saluted the efforts of the commission chair for making it possible. 

Likening government to the ‘Nkwifor’ (a secret society) with many eyes observing all at ones, the Harvard University trained Budgetary and Financial Management expert enjoined all public servants to continue working tirelessly, be committed to the course of the public service and to be at the service of the population for their input is being observed by the state. 

“Government is just like that. Even if you have just one year to go on retirement, continue to work hard and the medal or distinction may even came after your retirement,” said the United States General Accounting Office International Auditor Fellow.

He promised to continue working tirelessly, to be loyal, performant as much as possible so that he can help the Head of State the attain the noble objectives assigned to him by the people by Cameroonians in his own small way.  

With 38 years in the public service, Dr. Chi Asafor who also holds medal of Officer of the National Order of Valour has served as Senior Lecturer of State Universities, Senior Audit Officer, State Controller, Chief of Brigade, Chief of Section, State Inspector, Chief of Division, Chief of Internal Auditor (Inspector General). 
He was also Officer in charge of the Justice Sector at the National Programme on Governance (NPG); Board Chairman of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Cameroon; Elected member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global among others. 

Prof. Mbozo’o, one of the decorated Commissioners is one time MP on the ticket of ruling CPDM and former member of the party’s central committee. He is an expert-consultant in many inter-parliamentary Organisations (UIP, APE, PAP, UPA, ParlCemac) and former deputy SG of the pan-African parliament in South Africa.

The holder of PhD in Human Sciences is also a researcher and experienced varsity don who has published more than fifteen works and about fifty articles in scientific periodicals and journals. 

He is holder of many national and international honorary titles (Officier et commandeur de l’Ordre de la Pléiade of la Francophonie, Knight of the Cameroonian Order of merit, Cameroonian sports award) among others.
