A gang of seven suspected bandits said to be terrorizing inhabitants of several neighbourhoods the economic capital, Douala in the Littoral region have been arrested. They were arrested by elements of the Akwa North Gendarmerie Brigade.
The arrested follows a serious of operations conducted by the security elements in neighbourhoods like Bonangang, Bonamoussadi and Makepe neighbourhoods where houses of suspected gang leaders were searched. The seven men are said to be members of the so-called ‘microbe’ gang that few months back wreaked havoc on several Douala inhabitants as well as vandalized properties.
They were arrested in keeping of items including gas bottles, TV sets and other electronic gadgets. Also in their possession was a dagger and other weapons, as well as several packs of marijuana, tramol and several dangerous substances.
A similar operation carried out by security elements in Makepe let to the arrested of some six individuals. They were reportedly caught assaulting students of Laval College. One of the arretsted men was in possession of a machete, while others have six sticks and a mobile phone. One of them had a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims.
