Nkambe Fish Farmers Cooperative Society: Newly Elected President Promises To Revamp Sector, Increase Production

The newly elected president of the Nkambe Central Fish Farmers Simplified Cooperative Society has promised to revamp the fish farming sector in Nkambe and ensure increase in output.

Frankline Ndzi Nformi made the pledge shortly after his election Sunday 17 October 2020. 

“…my first priority will be to ensure increase and regular supply of fingerlings and feed to members and also to encourage them to open more ponds in order to increase fish production here in Nkambe,” Ndzi Nformi revealed.

He explained that boosting of production in the sector will undoubtedly improve the financial status of members of the four-year-old association as well as create jobs for the population of Nkambe in particular and Donga Mantung Division in general.



Ndzi Nformi takes over from the pioneer president of the association, Mbunkur Julius, who was recently elected into the Board of Directors of the Regional Fish Farmers Cooperative in Bamenda as regional Vice President.

The dynamic and levelheaded Ndzi Nformi revealed that collaboration and team spirit will be key in his leadership especially as he and his team envisage regular holding sensitization meetings with members on best practices in the domain of inland fishing. 

The envisaged sensitization he disclosed will be done in collaboration with the North West Livestock and Fisheries Development project, LIFIDEP. 

He also noted that they will ensure getting partnership deals with other structures that will in the future train the population of Nkambe on fingerlings and feed production.

He will be assisted in the running of fishing activities in Nkambe by Ngwati Louis voted as Secretary in replacement of Bup Elizabeth and Shufai Tamnjong of as member of the supervisory board.

Nkambe Central Fish Farmers Simplified Cooperative Society was created in 2016 with headquarters in Binju. It currently has about 50 members drawn from other nearby villages like Kungi, Binshua, Mbot and Tabenken.

Frankline Ndzi Nformi fondly called Ta Shey Frank is a time-tested leader with   rare managerial skills. 

The councillor of Nkambe council has once served as principal cashier at the divisional treasury in Nkambe before being appointed to Oku as Sub Treasurer in 2012. 

He currently serves in same capacity in Ako and doubles as the president of the administrative workers in the sub division.
