The Minister of Finance has hailed personnel of the Directorate General of Taxation, (DGT) for constructing one the finest multipurpose complex Cameroon can boost of in recent times aside their role to raise income needed for financing of public services and development projects.
Taxation boss, Mopa Modeste hands key to multipurpose complex to Finance Minister, Louis Paul Motaze
Loui Paul Motaze made the congratulatory remarks 14 November 2020 in Ntoun, a village along the Yaounde-Nsimalen highway in Bikok Subdivision, Mefou-Akono Division in the Centre region.
He was speaking while inaugurating the state-of-the-art multipurpose complex constructed by the National Mutual Assistance Fund For Taxation Personnel, MUNDI.
Motaze who doubles as Honorary President of MUNDI underscored the importance of the complex to the life of not only the personnel but to the country at large, adding, that such feat can only be recorded when personnel are in good fitness and health for them to continue to deliver.
Visibly marvelled by the beauty the complex, Motaze revealed that the taxation department has worked enormously in mobilising funds for the country's development and tasked them to ensure realising at least FCFA 2000 billion to finance public services and other development projects.
He urged the personnel not to relent in rigorously executing their duties as prescribed by the Head of State.
He urged MUNDI executive to ensure good maintenance of the architecture jewel as it will serve not only the personnel but help government to host international sporting competitions like the CHAN, AFCON or even camping sessions for the country’s national teams.
On his part, Mopa Modeste Fatoing, Director General of Taxation who doubles as Chairman of the Board of Directors of MUNDI, appreciated Minister Motaze’s inputs and on behalf of members symbolically handed him the key to the complex as gift for his efforts and supports to their activities as Honorary President.
Mopa told his hearers that MUNDI is simply an apolitical association which groups workers of the taxation department irrespective of status to safeguard the health of its members through assistance and solidarity.
He revealed that the project to build the complex was hatched in 2014 following resolutions of their general assembly to upgrade the health of its members.
Constructed in three years, the complex baptised Club MUNDI occupies 12 hectares of land and is composed of a three star hotel with 56 rooms and four suits, two football stadiums with capacity of a thousand seats, five tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, two swimming pools of 2-5 metres, an athletic track, restaurant, bar, garden among others.
Mopa disclosed that the association looks forward to completing the beauty complex by constructing a gymnasium, an entertainment centre, a bungalow and buckaroo to add to the touristic and cultural attraction of the hotel.
MUNDI’s Executive Director, Nkom Ndum Agbor Dorothy in her speech said the realisation of the feat marks a significant milestone in the continuous development of the wellbeing of members as the association envisages many other projects among which is the creation in near future of a microfinance complementary retirement scheme.
Agbor said the complex will not only help upgrade the fitness and mental wellbeing of personnel but foster inclusion and offer diverse educational experience to personnel and spur them to more hard work and continue to make them confident, innovative and resourceful individuals with broad horizons and positive thinking.
The Mayor of Bikok council in her welcome address expressed joy seeing her municipality host the complex which she said will lit the municipality into more development projects and make it become not only a sport but a cultural and touristic destination many.
She lauded the initiative of MUNDI and said it would add to the development of the municipality through extension of water supply, electricity, road and other social amenities and on the behalf of the population promised to safeguard it jealously.
MUNDI was created following declaration No.00001619/RDA/J06/BAPP of 12 December 2012 with mission to provide services to members and their families including health coverage and solidarity contributions.
The General Assembly is its Supreme body with 88 delegates while the executive bureau is charged with running of its daily activities.
The inauguration brought together several government ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and local administrative authorities of the centre region, traditional and religious authorities of the area and was spiced by performances from traditional dances from the Northern regions.
