Officials of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, will Monday 16 November 2020 begin the distribution of voter cards to the college of municipal councillors and traditional rulers ahead of the Regional election billed for 6 December 2020.
The information was made known Thursday 12 November 2020 by the Director General of Elections, Erik Essousse through a communique.
The communique indicates that the concern will receive their cards at the various ELECAM divisional branches in their respective areas of origin.
The sharing of the voter cards comes immediately after the end of the distribution of the electoral material for the upcoming elections.
The first consignment of the material comprising ballot boxes, report sheets, envelopes, indelible ink, checklists as well as COVID-19 preventive kits destined for the Far North Region were dispatched by ELECAM earlier this week.
Speaking in a ceremony to dispatch the material, Dr. Erik Essousse, revealed that ELECAM has decided to make sure all the material get to all their divisional branches latest 15 November 2020.
Before the items were dispatched to the Far North, Dr. Essousse alongside his collaborators crosschecked the items printed by the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation and the National Printing Press, to ensure the quality required for each division is intact and in conformity with other clerical details and norms.
Campaigns for the upcoming polls are supposed to begin according to the electoral code 15 days to the day of the election (November 21) and end by midnight on the eve of the polls (December 5).
