The news created panic among other students and institutions but government has called for calm and strict respect of all barrier measures in all school campuses.

Four of the eleven students tested positive at the College Du Val at the Beedi neighbourhood out of 168 who undertook the test while five others also tested positive at the Nal Bilingual College in Mbangue.

A couple others were tested at the College Saint Charles Baromee and many suspected cases taken for further examination.

Speaking following the developments, Littoral Governor, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, called on all schools to ensure strict application of the barrier measures prescribed by government.

The administrator made the statement after visiting some schools in the Douala V municipality.

The students were tested positive after developing high temperatures. Ivaha called on parents and guardians as well as school authorities to work in synergy to ensure the pupils and students respect all the preventive measures.

He said the COVID-19 infection rate has in the region moved from 2% to 5% as a result of negligence from a section of the population.
