Sons and daughters of Wimbum community residing in Cameroon's economic capital, Douala in the Littoral region have unanimously pledged to rally behind the development vision of the Member of Parliament, MP, for Donga Mantung Centre, Nkambe.
The promise to totally support Hon. Ngala Gerard Ndombang was made Saturday November 7, 2020 in Douala.
This was during a crowd-pulling civic reception the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association, WICUDA, organised in honour of the MP's election to parliament.
The event at the courtyard of the Saint Michel High School which rallied the population irrespective of their village, clan, political or religious leaning, spoke volume of the unifying strength of the MP.
Welcoming the lawmaker at the event, Nformi Joseph, Douala branch president of WICUDA, disclosed that the reception was a twin event - that of communing with their MP after his brilliant election and to recognise his matchless role in the development of the Wimbum community in Douala and back home.
Nformi, lifted the MP to the skies in his speech, describing him as a "Father Christmas" who continuously puts smile on the faces of his vulnerable and needy kith and kin.
He said the Hon. Ngala is someone with extraordinary love for community development with long track record in assisting his people back home.
"Hon. Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard is a cultural bulldozer with deep-rooted moral values and has always been a driving force and a pillar with us as a community in times of joy and sorrowwe of the clans pledge to stand with, and by him in every endeavour,” Nformi promised on behalf of the Wimbums living in Douala.
He lauded the MP's contribution to the education of school children back home amidst the crisis rocking the two Anglophone regions, his mitigation efforts and peace-building initiatives to the armed conflict in the Division, development strides in the health sector and other social amenities.
While lauding Hon. Ngala's immense contribution to the construction of the WICUDA main hall in Douala, the Douala President, appealed to the MP to use his new position as lawmaker to make decisive decisions that would help seek lasting solution to the ongoing crisis to ensure the safety of the population back home.
He also prayed the MP to get safer alternative roads that can ease movement to and from the Division, continue his fight for the education of kids, encourage self-employment and sustainability of the population as well as improve on the situation of health facilities.
In his address to the population, delighted Hon. Ngala, expressed gratitude for the memorable reception accorded to his person.
He explained that the reception witnessed delays after several appeals of his brothers, sisters and friends from the Mbumland to have him commune with them since election as MP because he attaches much value to the lives of his people over celebrations and so wanted all and sundry to respect the anti-COVID-19 barrier measures prescribed by government and World Health Organisation.
Hon. Ngala reassured his people that he will not only live up to expectation but create a difference in his mandate as MP and ensure continuity from where his predecessor, Hon. Awudu Mbaya, ended.
Ngala said he will not spend time to make promises that won't be fulfilled but do all he can to attend to their plight amongst which is the problem of road from Nkambe to Kumbo.
He revealed that he has already made great efforts in that direction including tabling the problem to the Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute.
"...believe you me, before my tenure as MP ends, there must be a tarred road from Kumbo to Misaje," Ngala promised, adding, that he will fight for the rehabilitation of an alternative road along the MbawNso - Ntaba stretch in order to ease movement for Donga Mantung population.
He told his hearers that there are many other road projects in the pipeline that he envisage realising within his mandate.
Harping on the issue of security, Hon. Ngala, re-echoed that no amount of threat will stop his continuous quest for effective functioning of schools, peaceful coexistence and normalcy in the Division.
Ngala told his detractors that no evil fashioned against his person shall prosper because he believes he is doing the right thing which any son of the Division should do for his people.
Despite being hailed for his immense contribution to the construction of the WICUDA hall at the New Bell neighbourhood, the business tycoon instantly doled out FCFA one million as additional support, promising his people that despite his busy political and business schedules, he will continue to be with them.
Hon. Ngala Gerard was accompanied to the civic reception by his colleagues from Ndu, Hon. Naomi Ngando, Donga Mantung East, Nwa, Hon. Adamu Edward, Wouri West, Bonaberi, Hon. Gabriel Fandja and the Mayor of the Nkambe, Shey Nfor Musa amongst many others.
Scores of Wimbum sons and daughters who attended the civic reception told Cameroon Express Info that Hon. Ngala is the best thing that has happened to the Division in recent times, adding, that they will support and pray for his success and for God Almighty to continue to protect him.
The chief of Wimbum community in Douala, Bakari Alfred, said the contribution of the MP to development of the community at home and Douala cannot be quantified and like Oliver Twist, pleaded with the MP to lobby for the creation of more technical colleges within Nkambe Central Subdivision.
