Assistance to stranded Chinese in East: Chinese Ambassador To Cameroon Expresses Gratitude To Gov’t

The government of China has expressed gratitude to Cameroon for the warn reception and assistance given to some 200 Chinese nationals who fled the conflict in the Central African Republic (CAR) to seek refuge in Cameroon’s Eastern border town of Garoua-Boulai.

This was the focus of an audience granted the Wang Yingwu, Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon by External Relations Minister, Lejeune Mbella Mbella 13 January 2021. 

The Chinese nationals it should be recalled were received by administrative and defence officials and recently visited and donated gifts comprising mattresses, blankets, foodstuff, hygiene and sanitation kits and financial support by Territorial Administration Minister (MINAT), Paul Atanga Nji. 

It was during Atanga’s two day working visit to the East region on the instructions of the President Paul Biya. Ambassador Yingwu in an interview with reporters shortly after the audience said his government was grateful to Cameroon for the assistance accorded his countrymen. He seized the opportunity to extend warn and hearty New Year wishes to President Paul Biya and Cameroonian people through the MINREX boss. 

He said the assistance to the stranded Chinese was very important and timely. He prayed for return to normalcy in CAR so as to enable his people return and resume their activities.  

Minister Mbella Mbella and the Chinese diplomat also discussed other undisclosed issues on fostering bilateral relations between Cameroon and China in the over 45 minute audience.
