Recruitment into public service: Gov’t Plans To Decentralise Interview Component To Regions

The Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms has revealed that plans are underway to decentralise certain components of competitive examinations into the public service at the level of the regions.

Minister Joseph Anderson LE made the announcement Thursday 4 February 2021 during a surprise visit to the users lodge at the ministry where he met with some civil servants.

He observed that though much has been done to scale down the complicated process of serving users in the ministry, a bigger task lies ahead when it comes to the modernisation of the country’s public service.

“We are supposed to communicate and talk to the users to know what their problems are and try to find solutions together. That is why we decided to come here today to see how the services are rendered to them,” LE said while paying lip service to some of the problems affecting public service notably slow treatment of files.

“Even when we have sent files to the regional delegations, the users collect them there but are still oblige to come to Yaoundé for the authentication of these documents. So we are working to solve the problem so that those documents can also be authenticated in the regions may be by the Governor or our Regional Delegates,” he promised.

He equally revealed plans to collaborate with the Ministry of Territorial Administration so as to liaise with local authorities notably regional Governors to get the move realise. “I will see with my colleague of Territorial Administration what we can do together so that things can go fast,” he assured.
