The youth council led by its Vice President, Kindong Princely Thursday 15 April 2021 conferred on the humble person of the SG, Gaston Komba, the title of Goodwill Ambassador of the National Youth Council "Social program" – a program aimed at self-employment, integration and professional reintegration of young people nationwide.

The ceremony took place at the makeshift General Secretariat of the National Assembly behind the Yaounde Municipal Lake. Accompanying the team for the event was the former president of the council, Jean Marc Afesi Mbafor, now member of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism.

The CNYC members said the National Assembly scribe has distinguished himself in supporting young people with, in particular, the “Espérance Jeunesse” parliamentary network (REJE), which he founded and led while serving as lawmaker.

Komba, a former CPDM MP from Nkam, Littoral region was appointed SG of the law-making institution 14 April 2020 by the President of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. He replaced Geoffrey Desire Mbock sacked in June 2019 after spending less than a year at the helm of the General Secretariat.

Komba is credited by his closed collaborators as a diligent, timely, assiduous man who is only moved by those who deliver at their post of responsibility. Journalists covering the National Assembly have hailed his timely provision of press kits to reporters and other innovations which have boosted their output in covering of sessions.
