The Minister of Territorial Administration has said his ministerial department give priority to its activities in 2021 in the direction of civil protection of those affected by natural disaster nationwide.

Minister Paul Atanga Nji was speaking while defending the draft budget of his ministry before members of the Budget and Finance Committee of the National headed by Hon. Rosette Moutymbo Ayayi. The defended budget stands at FCFA 34.7 billion.“Global warming/Climatic change is a reality that is why most often we have floods, landslides and heavy rains and most of the time the population have difficulties,” he explained promising that steps will be taken to prevent and mitigate effects such natural occurrences.
Aside natural disasters, the minister said it would be important to put close check on the circulation weapons across the national territory.
“…it is relevant to put in place a centralized computerized data base system relating to weapons and their owners. It is about establishing a general record of weapons, their users and also of their entry points and circulation nationwide, by prohibiting the local manufacturing of weapons,” he stated.
He said the draft budget if adopted will also be used to establish a modern territorial administration so as to build the capacity of citizens and civil society to participate in and manage public affairs, improve capacity of local administrators, control circulation of weapons, prepare response to emergency situations, handle issues related to IDPs and refugees.
