Members of the Hon. Rosette Moutymbo Ayayi-led Budget and Finance Committee at the National have frowned at the poor supply of water and energy nationwide since the adoption of the 2020 finance bill last December.
Water and Energy minister, Gaston Eloundou Essomba quizzed by MPs

The committee members put Minister Gaston Eloundou Essomba on a hot seat for over three hours Tuesday 1 December 2020 as he defended his draft budget for the 2021 finance year. The draft budget stand at FCFA 226 billion.

Eloundou Essomba however reassured that 2021 will be much more productive in the two very important domains. He said in the field of electricity for instance, the ministry looks forward to commissioning the power transmission line between Memve’ele and Koukomou which will optimize energy production from the Memve’ele dam.

He added that there will also ensure the completion of the interconnection between the East and South regions of the country in order to improve energy supply in the two regions.

Eloundou Essomba said with the provision of the special electricity development fund by the finance bill will greatly help the ministry to deliver by carrying out feasibility studies for certain major projects to be executed while funding some key projects for rural electrification.
