Labour and Social Security Minister has issued a release cancelling traditional march past to mark the celebration of the 135th edition International Labour Day. The release issued Thursday 22 April 2021 by Minister Gregoire Owona.
The labour minister in the release informs actors in the labour sector that the nationwide cancellation of parades is due to the rising cases of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that Cameroon is still battling hard to contain.
This year’s celebration is under the theme “The world of work and the COVID-19 pandemic: securing workers’ health, a great challenge in the preservation of achievements within companies.”
Owona enjoined employers to rather seize the opportunity to organize sensitization campaigns and exchange activities focused on this year’s theme in strict respect of anti-COVID-19 barrier measures outlined by the government and the World Health Organisation.
