Members of the national commission for the evaluation of training domains offered abroad have rejected 23 foreign-acquired certificates and diplomas from institutions said not to have been officially homologated and declared 17 others officially fake.
The decisions were made known by the commission during their 100th session which held at the Higher Teacher Training College, ENS, Yaounde. The session was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education by the Secretary General, Prof. Wilfred Gabsa Nyongbet.
The rejected and fake certificates were among the 2650 submitted to the commission for scrutiny and authentication. The certificates were mainly from other Africa countries, Asia, Europe and America. The commission in total authenticated 2610 of the submitted certificates.
Prof Gabsa explained that the process is to enable holders of the certificates operate in Cameroon as well as give the certificate a level that would permit the holder to be recruited or integrated in the system or permit them use it to further studies in the country. The session was the first of its four statutory sessions to hold this year.
