Curbing blackouts, low voltage: Electricity Transportation Lines Evaluate At 70% Construction

Gaston Eloundou Essomba, Energy and Water Resources Minister has expressed satisfaction at the level of construction works at the 225 kilowatt electricity transportation line from Yaounde to Abongbang and Nkonsamba to Bafoussam. 
He was speaking in Bafoussam at the end of a four day working visit to evaluate the level of the works.
The level of the works currently stands at 70%. The project is expected to be complete by December 2021 in order to solve the constant problem of blackout and low voltage. The minister hailed the collaborative spirit showed by the concerned populations. 

He assured the population of Melong in the Littoral region whose property were affected by the electricity transportation lines project that government is doing all it can to ensure they receive their compensations.  

He pleaded with families whose property have been destroyed to collaborate with the contractors for their homes to be electrified in order to enable them watch games of the forthcoming African Nations Cup slated for Cameroon next year.  

He told the locals that government machinery may be slow in taking action but assured them that they will be compensated at the appropriate time. Eloundou said Cameroon is opportune to benefit from the spinoffs of its partnerships with international organisations which must be exploited to better the lives of the people especially basic commodities like water and electricity.

The locals said they were not prepared to remove their cash crops in the farm but such was destroyed. They said attempts to get government’s reaction on the issue were not successful. They expressed satisfaction seeing the minister meet and talk to them but expressed the wish for him to fulfill his promises. Minister Eloundou assured even families who were not touched of benefits.
