President Paul Biya has appointed the pioneer Public Independent Conciliators to serve as umpires between users and regional and council authorities in case of disputes in the North West and South West regions.
The appointment of Tamfu Simon Fai and Telelen Dorothy Atabong espe Motaze as the Public Independent Conciliators for the North West and South West regions respectively comes in to complete the structures of the Special Status accorded to the two English-speaking regions as contained in Law No. 2019/024 of 24 December 2019 instituting the General Code of General and Local Authorities.
It will further fast-track the decentralization process in the two regions. Aside examining and amicably settling disputes between users and regional and council authorities, the two officials are also charged with defending and protecting rights and freedoms with regards to the relationship between citizens and the region of the council among others. They are expected to work for a six year period non-renewable.
Telelen Dorothy is a fine educationist who started her career in Buea after graduating from with Teacher Grade I Certificate in Government Bilingual teacher Training College Kumba in 1984. The former Regional Pedagogic Inspector for ICT at the South West Regional Delegation for Basic Education has taught in several schools.
Between 2012-2016, she served as sub director of general affairs in the same structure before she was promoted as position of Regional Delegate for Basic Education in 2016. The 61-year-old woman who hails from Lebang in Lebialem Division holds a Masters in Educational Foundation and Administration from the University of Buea. The mother of four went on retirement 7 October 2020.
Tamfu Simon Fai on the other hand is an independent and international gas and oil consultant since 2017 with a track record of offering investments facilitation, advisory consultancy, monitoring as well as inter-mediation services to oil and gas industries in Cameroon and beyond.
He holds a Masters of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria after obtaining a BSc from the same institution. The petroleum professional with 39 years of multi-functional experience and leadership in the oil and gas industry.
