An irate woman said to be a 'prophetess' in Kumba, Chief Town of Meme Division in the restive South West region in an outburst Tuesday 27 October 2020, interrupted Territorial Administration Minister, questioning his Bible quotations in the course of a speech.
The woman whose name we got as Nkeh Marry unexpectedly interrupted Paul Atanga Nji when he was addressing a cross-section of Kumba elite and the population at the City Council Hall.
This was during the visit of members of the inter-ministerial committee sent to Kumba by the Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, to console affected families of the Kumba school massacre and get first-hand information on all that transpired.
The attack at Mother Francisca International Bilingual Academy Saturday 24 October 2020 left seven students dead and over ten severely injured.
The Minister was interrupted while harping on the importance of respecting state authority and institutions as prescribed in the Bible.
He drew inspiration from the book of Romans 13:1-5 during which he stated that every citizen must be subject to the governing authority for there is no authority except from God and those that exist have been instituted by God.
It was at this point that the woman jumped from the crowd to call the Minister to order.
“Please sir objection. Objection! Let me tell you something that you don’t know. Nobody can fight God. You can stand in the midst of everybody and say anything but I want to let you know that there is a God in heaven. And God said that the Egyptians that you see today…,” Nkeh said before she was taken out of the hall by Kumba Urban MP, Tabot Lawson Bakia and the Divisional Officer of Kumba I, Ali Anougo, as captured in short videos that have gone viral on the social media.
However, Nkeh had in an earlier interview granted to reporters at the Divisional Office said God has asked her to tell the President and his Minister to resign.
“You cannot see President, you cannot see this one, you cannot see, you cannot see, you cannot see…but they forget to know that there is a God that can make a way when there seems to be no way. God actually said that let us tell Mr. Biya and his Minister to step down from the throne,” Nkeh revealed.
She further warned “if they do not step down from the throne, papa God will start from the presidency. Papa God will start from the presidency. Papa God will kill without mercy. That is what He sent me to come and tell them. He said he will kill without no mercy; he will set confusion in their midst in the presidency and people will know that he is God”.
“…today I am asking the Minister, I am asking the President, I am asking the Delegate, I am asking all the commissioners and all the Delegates that, where do they put the trust in them? Are they putting their trust in God or are they putting their trust in man?” Nkeh rhetorically questioned, adding, that both those holding positions of leadership and the general population have failed.
“They have flopped the governance; government has failed and everybody has failed. And now let them allow the church to take control. If they do not allow the church to take control, papa God will stand on his throne and be watching at everything… I want to say shame on the government, shame on ministers, shame on the president and shame to all of us. All of us have failed and now let us go back to God,” Nkeh concluded.
Social media has carried rumours indicating Nkeh has gone missing and even alleging she might have been arrested for questioning by security elements.
However, field reports from Tamfu Ciduan, Kumba-based correspondent of Douala-based TV station, My Media Prime, indicates she is in her house with her family.
