Repentant separatist commander, Leonard Nambere, popularly known as ‘General’ Nambere has urged the population of Kumba to rise above Amba threats, shun fear and take back their town and ensure the return to normalcy.
‘General’ Nambere who now lives in Yaounde was addressing the population around a motor park in Kumba. The environment was heavily militarize as caught in a video that went viral on the social media.
“I am not powerful but I have just one fear…the fear of God. When I was fighting, I never raped, I never kidnapped for ransom. Listen to me carefully, anybody who says the Cameroon flag will not be raised to the skies, or children will not go to school in Kumba or say businesses will not open on Mondays will not succeed,” Nambere said.
He urged the population to denounce all suspected gunmen in their neighbourhoods and help government to fight for the return to normalcy by snubbing respect to ghost towns and lockdowns.
Nambere it should be recalled fought for separatist fighters between 2017-2018 in parts of the South West region.
He later dumped the struggle to escape to Nigeria. He returned to the country early this year with some Cameroonian refugees who voluntarily opted to return to the country.
He has been preaching an end to the crisis and calling on his fellow fighters still in the bushes to drop their weapons, join the DDR centres for peace and normalcy to return.
