Recognition of a Philanthropist: Fru Jonathan Awarded, Named “Education Ambassador” For Santa Subdivision

The education family in Santa Subdivision has recognised the philanthropic actions of Fru Jonathan, one of Santa’s outstanding elite fearlessly fighting to ensure the effectiveness of schools across the Subdivision.

He was awarded and conferred the titled of “Ambassador of Education" for Santa Subdivision Friday November 6, 2020.

This was during an ceremony to celebrate the 38th anniversary of President Paul Biya's ascension to the supreme magistracy of the state.

Speaking while handing over the award to him, Mofor Bridgette Pezongelekeh epse Ayeah, the Inspector of Basic Education for Santa Subdivision on behalf of the Education community said it was their own little way of thanking him for all his efforts and assistance to teachers, pupils and students and for fighting tooth and nail to ensure schools remain functional amidst all odds.

“This is a recognition of all your efforts for us in the education family in the Subdivision. You have been with us at all times. In gun or in anything, you have been with us, encouraging us,” said Mofor, while praying God to guide him to continue reaping for the subdivision.

“We pray that you should continue to hunt for the educational family in the subdivision. Catch elephants, catch tigers, catch lions, for we are waiting. May the good Lord be with you,” she prayed.

Accompanying the award was a trophy which the teachers said would serve as a means to transmit their message of gratitude to other elite of the subdivision who have also been assisting in their own way.

The teachers pledged to parents and the elite that they will continue to do their job no matter the circumstances and prayed God to continue to reward and blessed Fru Jonathan and other elite for the smile they are putting on the faces of the children.

The recognition coincided with another version of Fru Jonathan’s assistance to the education family. The CPDM diehard had dedicated the party’s celebration of the President’s 38th anniversary to donate school materials to pupils and students.

The donation of the diehard section president of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party in Mezam II Section (Santa) was aimed at assisting kids still unable to resume classes for the 2020/2021 school.

The didactic materials to pupils and students of the subdivision irrespective of their party lines comprised Speaking high-quality school bags, books, pens, pencils, rulers, among others.

Fru Jonathan who doubles as Charge des Missions at the CPDM General Secretariat also appealed to the parents to shun fear imposed on them by gunmen and educate their children, pledging to continue to support them.


He added that it is only through education that a brighter future for the subdivision can be guaranteed.

He also used the occasion to sensitise pupils, students on the dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic and reminded them of the various barrier measures to be respected within the school milieu.

The heavily attended event brought together a cross section of local administrative authorities across Mezam, religious, traditional authorities and civil society actors.

It unfolded under the watchful eyes of Mezam SDO, Simon Emile Mooh who, represented NW Governor. Also in attendance was the Mayor of Santa, HRH Samkie Elvis Ngayam II among others.

Anniversary Proper

In different speeches, party bigwigs in the subdivision praised the achievements of their party chairman and President for the past 38 years including improvement in infrastructural development, economic, social transformation.

They hailed President for making Cameroon to have the strongest economy in the CEMAC Sub region, lauded his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They prayed the president to use the wisdom he used in resolving the Bakassi dispute, and his handling of the Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North to bring lasting solution to the armed conflict in the North West and South West regions.
