Anglophone crisis: Improvise Explosive Device Injures Two In Bamenda

By Doh Bertrand Nua
At least two persons were injured following the detonation of locally made explosive device in Bamenda, chief town of the troubled North West region.
The incident occurred around T-junction neighbourhood Tuesday 19 January 2021. The two injured, a trader on animal feed and her daughter were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention by a cab driver. The explosive is said to have damaged most of her items.

"We only heard a loud sound and everyone started running away. I have recorded losses but we thank God for life because these things are worldly. From now, we shall always ensure that we are vigilant by checking places around," said another trader whose business place is metres from the scene.

Other vendors around the scene of explosion also had their items damage. A bar tender said his drinks got broken with the wall of his shop cracked.

A telephone, nails and other iron objects were found at the scene of the explosion. It occurred barely a day after Territorial Administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji boastfully said government has won the war against separatist fighters in the North West and South West regions.

The MINAT made the declaration during his two day security evaluation meeting to the region on the instructions of President Paul Biya.

To recall is the fact that separatist fighters have been used by separatist during their attacks on several occasions.

The most recent case was that in Momo Division where an improvised explosive planted on the road to attack the convoy of the SDO. The explosion led to the dead of four soldiers and the Divisional Delegate of Communication.
