HRH Sokoudjou Phillipe Pierre Rameau, second class traditional ruler of Bamendjou village in Upper Plateau Division, West Region who is noted for persistently criticizing the Yaounde regime has been issued fresh warnings by the SDO of the Division over what the administrator terms “unpatriotic utterances on social media”.
Upper Plateau Division SDO
The warning of the SDO, Ousmanou Yampen is contained in a release he issued 19 January 2021. The administrator in the release states that the warning is the last he is issuing the traditional custodian on his outings which he said is anti-republican and likely to push Cameroonians to revolt against the state and its Institutions. Ousmanou reminded HRH Sokoudjou of his functions as an auxiliary to the administration, adding that his outings are against the laws of the Republic which he should by virtue of his position be the one to respect and comply to in order to set an example for his population.
He firmly stated that any further provocative unpatriotic social media outing from the traditional ruler will provoke the law to be applied on him.
The matter seems to be taking a different twist as notables of the area have fired back, calling the SDO to order over what they term disrespect to their paramount ruler. They have vowed to not to accept any act of disrespect on their chief.
Chief who constantly ceiticises Biya regime
The chief it should be recalled has received several cautions from administrative authorities in the area. In July 2020 he was in bad books with the SDO for stubbornly receiving a group of political party scribes in his palace without due declaration. The traditional ruler has for months been on fore, condemning the management of serious issues affecting the national notably the military solution to the crisis in the two Anglophone regions.
