Inhabitants of the Far North region will soon heave a sigh of relief with plans to complete the construction of the FCFA 10 billion Maroua Referral Hospital in the September 2021.
The project manager gave the assurance to the Far North Governor Midjiyawa Bakary alongside during a recent visit to evaluate ongoing works at the site with a parliamentary delegation.
While commending the physical and financial realisation of the project, the Governor enjoined the contractor to respect the deadline.
The gigantic edifice located in the outskirts of the city is part of President Paul Biya’s triennial emergency development plan aimed at improving the welfare and health care delivery of the locals.
The parliamentary delegation visited the structure alongside local administrative officials to have a first-hand evaluation of the structure.
Honourable Celestin Tabouli, President of the follow-up and evaluation committee said the gift has been offered by President Biya to the people and so needs proper evaluation and follow-up for the execution to be done on time.
After a comprehensive site visit and a working session with the contractors, and members of the control mission, Governor Midjiyawa lauded the quality of work done and sounded upbeat that the deadline will be respected.
“We are very satisfied. They have decided to finish the work at the end of the month of September and government had fulfilled to pay all the bill in accordance with what the Head of State said, to enable population of the far North to get necessary care,” he said.
The evaluation team also noted a good quality of equipment also purchased for the equipment of the hospital upon completion.
