Cameroon insecurity: Unknown Man Attacks, Vandalizes Minister Laurent Esso’s Car, Five Others

A man whose identity The Median is still to independently have is said to have attacked the Ministry of Justice at the heart of the Nation’s political capital, Yaounde and destroy six vehicles.

Among six cars vandalize by the individual was that of the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso. Sources say the attacker was armed with locally made weapons including an object and a locally made explosive device.

He is said to have thrown the explosive from the outer part of the ministry into the Minister’s car park where one of his vehicles was destroyed. The car is said to have gone up in flames but was quickly put out by security guards on duty. 

After the throwing the explosive, the attacker is said to have proceeded with breaking of windscreens of the vehicles.

Before the incident, the culprit is said to have made rounds at the ministry including futile to be granted audience by the Minister Esso. A source at the ministry disclosed the attacker once attempted stopping the minister upon his arrival at work.

Reports say the man was later arrested by security elements. He is said to have been ‘denied’ justice in a case where he felt he was right, causing him to lose one of his properties.
