Technological dev’t in telecoms sector: CAMTEL Appeals For Re-launch Of Cooperation With Canadian Companies

In a bid to meet the challenges faced with regard to technological development in the field of telecommunications, Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has requested a re-launch of cooperation and technology transfer with Canadian telecommunications companies.

The request was made by a team of CAMTEL senior personnel led by the Deputy General Manager, Olé Daniel Désiré Wednesday 28 July 2021. This was during a working visit the team had with Iya Touré, Delegate General of Quebec (the French-speaking Province of Canada) based in Dakar, Senegal that also covers Central Africa. 
The emissary of the Canadian state and his delegation hinged talks on how CAMTEL and Quebec could possibly cooperate and exchange ideas in the development of the telecommunications sectors as well as business ideas. 

Welcoming the delegation at CAMTEL head office in Yaounde, the Deputy GM, Olé Daniel Désiré thanked the General Delegate of Quebec Province for French-speaking African countries for the interest shown in the company through the working visit. 
Ole said the wish of the delegation to revitalize economic and technical cooperation between Cameroon and the Province of Quebec is a commendable initiative which will significantly strengthen the areas to be explored in the cooperation notably at the technical, commercial and infrastructure levels.

This, he said, means CAMTEL would benefit from the advanced technology of Quebec, especially in this crucial period marked by the imminent launch of its mobile network. He used the opportunity to laud already existing cooperation between CAMTEL and Canada on the technical and managerial levels. 
He cited the examples of the Canadian Communication Agency (COSSETTE), which specializes in branding and marketing, and is behind the design of CAMTEL's BLUE brand for the launch of its mobile network, SAKS TEL for the completion of CAMTEL's WTTX project as well as leadership skills and knowledge acquired by Cameroonian graduates from Quebec Universities with the current General Manager being finished product and an irrefutable proof. 
Through presentations, CAMTEL’s different directors unveiled the strengths, challenges of the corporation under the strategic "Change Management and Costumer Centricity" vision put in place by the General Manager, Judith yah Sunday epse Achidi. 
The presentations established the imperative need for CAMTEL and Quebec to establish win-win partnerships through, among others, the exchange of good practices, alternative training and capacity building of Quebec and Cameroonian technicians/engineers, and the possibility of linking your various branches in Africa to CAMTEL Data Center. 

The deputy GM said the multiple areas to be explored is indicative of more concrete actions and achievements for the development of the digital economy in Cameroon which the Head of State, Paul Biya, attaches particular importance to. 

Iya Touré appreciated the warm reception that was reserved for them at the cooperation upon arrival, disclosing that the visit was to present themselves and what the Quebec Delegation has in terms of cooperation. The officials left satisfied with suivenirs handed to them by CAMTEL Deputy GM while hoping for fruits of the envisaged cooperation in the nearest future to better the corporation’s telecommunications mission and in terms of technological development.
