The Minister of Territorial Administration has prescribed extreme vigilance to security forces at checkpoints in the North West region.

He was speaking Tuesday 19 January 2021 at a checkpoint that borders the North West and West regions which recently came under attack.
This was during a two day security evaluation mission to the region on the instructions of the Head of State Paul Biya.
He said the visit at the checkpoint was to get first-hand information on what happened and how to prevent further attacks.
“The instruction of the Head of State is that people should remain extremely very vigilant. That the enemy is never afraid and that we should not relent in the control,” he said.
From the visit at Matazen, the MINAT handed five guns said to be from separatist fighters to the Gendarmerie legion Commander, stating they were surrendered by armed men.
“It was at 10:30 yesterday night (Monday night) that a group which was manipulated and causing havoc and atrocities in a village came and handed five of the guns they were using,” Atanga told reporters.
He urged other fighters still in the bushes to lay down their arms and join the DDR centres and assured them of their safety.
