Killed Momo Communication Delegate
Their request is contained in a release issued 6 January following news of the death of Rebecca LEWUSI JEME, Divisional Delegate of Communication for Momo Division in a separatist attack.

“The Circumstances surrounding the death of our Colleague Becky LEWUSI JEME brings us to question conditions under which Journalists covering stories in the conflict ridden NW and SW regions work,” they stated, calling on authorities to improve security in both regions.
“We at the Cameroon Association of Women in Media – AFMEC, call for the powers that be to ensure that security measures in these areas incorporate the protection of journalists on duty in crisis hit regions, especially when on official mission,” they pleaded.

They stated that despite the uncertain situations in the two regions, Journalists still do job their jobs of relaying information that can lead to a lasting solution to the socio-political and armed conflict even though most of them kin both public and private media have been forced to flee to other regions for safety, leaving others jobless while some are under dead threats.

The tragic incident occurred as few kilometres to Mbengwi as the SDO’s convoy was returning from installing the newly appointed DOs of Njikwa and Andek. Four security officers were lost their lives in the course of the attack as revealed by Communication Minister, Rene Sadi.
