Basic Education: Biya Donates 73 000 Books On Ethics, Civic Education To Primary Schools

The President of the Republic has donated 73 000 text books to boost the teaching and learning of ethics, civic education and morals in primary schools nationwide.
The books for pupils of both French and English subsystems of education were received Thursday 28 January 2021 by basic Education Minister.

Prof. Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa after receiving the books at the Ministry called on school authorities to ensure judicious use of the books which he noted is very essential in the education of the kids especially with the falling ethical and moral values in the society.

“This is an extension of the Head of State’s gesture to the young pupil in the country. The president has always wanted to give free education to our pupils in Cameroon and this is an extension of his freewill gesture to them,” said Dr. Ashiri Kilo, Secretary of State at the Ministry, who added that the books will help build pupils with moral and ethical values.

“You know the falling standard of our civic education these days. So these books will help our teachers and our pupils to understand the core values of being a patriotic citizen,” she said.
