The contribution of female Members of Parliament to the democratization process and growth of the country has been celebrated prior to their celebration of the 2021 women’s day.

Their prowess was celebrated in a photo exhibition which was launched in Yaounde Thursday 4 March 2021. It was launched at the National Museum by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Bidoung Mpat.The exhibition which is open to the public is organize by the National Assembly in honour of all women who have been active in the political life of the country since 1973.
The photo exhibition is in one of the main halls of the museum carries large pictures of former female MPs and bears short messages about their role while at the Glass House.
Honorable Emilia Mojowa Ifaka, one of the Vice Presidents hailed the initiative and the mark increase in the number of women at the Assembly while praying for more in the near future.
“I wish to say thank you to the Head of State because it is his political will that we are 61 women at the National Assembly. This is 33%. Even some of the big democracies have not attained that percentage. For putting in place a system that has brought so many of us to Parleiment,” Lifaka said while challenging more women to get to politics.
“To the fellow women, we encourage them that today we are 63. In the next legislature why not, we should be 100. I know the men will be asking whose place we want but I think the more the women came on the decision-making table, the more and better society we are going to build because by our very nature, women are consolatory, peace-loving, foundation of every family because they are the first teacher, doctor, pastor to her family,” she said. Lifaka added that the more women are brought to the table, the better the world is going to become.
