Boosting teaching of ICTs in primary Schools: Swiss Firm Offers Over FCFA 500 Billion Worth Computer Software

A new page will soon open in the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technologies, ICTs, in primaries nationwide. This follows an offer of over FCFA 500 billion worth treatment and management software dubbed “My Office Suite” from a Swiss company, Societe Corousel Finance SA.
An agreement to seal the deal was signed between Basic Education Minister, Prof. Laurent Serge Etondi Ngoa, who signed for government and the Representative of the firm, Jafar Hilali, for the company. 

Explaining the content of the deal to the Prime Minister during an audience, the Representative of the firm said the donation will help enhance mastery of basic computer skills which is a perfect tool for a successful education system. Jafar said the program will run in primary schools nationwide for a period of ten years.

Minister Etondi Ngoa on his part applauded the gesture. He said it will contribute greatly in boosting learning of ICTs at elementary level. He said this will help prepare the pupils for the digital transformation the world is witnessing. 

Gov’t gets 15 000 tablets to boost distance learning
In a similar development, some 15,000 tablets of 16 gigabytes each have been donated to the ministry of secondary education to boost the distance learning programme initiated with the advent of the Coronavirus. 

The gadgets donated by organisations including UNESCO, UNICEF and MTN Cameroon are set to be distributed to the secondary school students in the days ahead.

Prof Pauline Nalova Lyonga received the consignment Wednesday 28 April 2021 in Yaounde. She said the gifts will assist Cameron in its desire to digitalize education within the COVID-19 pandemic.
