Youths in the Centre region have been challenged to shun violence within school milieu, be responsible and adopt entrepreneurial skills.
The call was made by the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea during activities to launch the 55th national youth day in Ngoumou, Mefou and Akono Division.
He challenged the hundreds of primary and secondary school pupils from both public and private schools to be veritable actors of nation building.
“The message for all the youth of the Centre region is that they should avoid taking drugs, avoid taking alcohol, they should avoid carrying weapons like knife and scissors on them because these are habits which have come to stay and it is difficult for them to let go,” he cautioned.
He stated that youth week activities are a moment of reflections and engagements to move forward the country’s development agenda.
Featuring in the ceremony was dances, sketches, visiting to exhibition stands with products made by youths.
The 55th edition of the National Youth it should be noted will be celebrated under the theme “challenges and opportunities in the times of COVID-19”.
